Rich and Sue Bristol received degrees in Horticulture from Iowa State University. Immediately after their marriage in early 1983, they ventured west to Denver. Rich began working in the exterior horticulture industry while Sue went into the seldom-mentioned-in-college industry of interior plantscaping. The following year, Rich joined Sue and began learning the business from the literal ground up.

In June of 1988, Rich and Sue started Bristol Botanics in their tiny basement. One year later, they moved to a 'real' office, expanding twice over the next eleven years.

In the summer of 2000, they were able to purchase a 6,600 square foot, two building facility in Littleton, Colorado. However, the company quickly outgrew that facility, so in 2007, Bristol Botanics moved into a 28,000 square foot facility in Englewood, Colorado. The move gave the company an opportunity to operate its four main divisions with better efficiency. These divisions are; 1) interior foliage design, installation and maintenance; 2) exterior foliage design, installation and maintenance; 3) commercial floral design; and 4) commercial holiday design and installation.

In the 35+ years that Bristol Botanics has been serving the Colorado Front Range, the company has experienced fantastic growth, despite the occasional economic downturns and the 2020 pandemic. The company now employs over 50 full time employees, adding upwards of 100 more during the Christmas decorating season.

The company reflects Sue's Iowa farm girl work ethic and Rich's ability to talk to anyone about anything. Some of the important foundations have been to always do the job right the first time, treat people with respect, always do what you promise, and value family.

This growth has come about because our clients have come to learn that Bristol Botanics is not just a plant company, it is a service company.

The company has grown to become Colorado's largest and most capable interior foliage design firm with regular clients stretching from Colorado Springs to Fort Collins. This, of course, includes the Denver metro area and Boulder. We also have national relationships with property managers and have designed projects across the country.  In 2019, the Bristols purchased Boulder's Color Me Green.  In 2022, the Bristols acquired Denver Commercial Property Services' Plantscaping and Holiday Décor divisions.

Another contribution to the success of Bristol Botanics is our association with BOMA. The level of professionalism is second to none among these property managers, facility managers and property owners. Their advocacy and generosity is truly felt around the world.

The bottom line is that Bristol Botanics has developed a reputation for quality and service. We try our best at everything we do. You can be sure that we will do the right thing for our clients every single time.

Being former college athletes, Rich and Sue look at everything as it relates to a team. Both in visualizing how individuals can best serve the team and recognizing the influence and success of the efforts of the team members. While the work can be demanding at times, we truly want our employees and associates to have fun doing what they do, and to understand collectively they are creating something special for every one of our clients.

For you clients that are reading this, thank you! For those that are not yet clients, give us a call!
